Right Minds
Rick Braun
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wis., on Aug. 4, 1960, the second of five children. My parents, Jim and Anne, were not rich people, and still aren't. Still, they worked hard and saved what they could. Time were tough at times, but Dad and Mom never threw in the towel and figured it was time for the government to feed their five kids. And through all the struggles, they also set the most fundamentally proper example of priorities: God, family, career, in that order. I've seen their examples for all of my years and just know in my heart that the conservative ideal of working hard to take care of myself is the only way to live free.
When I'm not contributing to Right Minds, I work as a copy editor and writer in the sports department of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. When I'm not working, I'm enjoying life as a bachelor at my home on Tichigan Lake (25 miles southwest of Milwaukee), either riding my jet ski or cruising on my pontoon boat -- things I'd never have gotten had I waited for the government to assure my prosperity.
